How we finish the surface

The finish decides how a piece looks a year in, not on the day it goes up. We match it to the material and to the location — one thing indoors, another on a façade.

Ferro Raw

raw, straight off the cutting bed

The surface stays exactly as it came off the sheet — mill scale, cut discolouration and all the unevenness of rolling. We degrease it and seal it with clear lacquer to hold it in that state.

materials
Mild steel, Stainless steel, Corten steel, Aluminium
use

maintenance
wipe with a dry cloth; no abrasives

Ferro Grain

brushed in one direction

A grain running in a single direction, visible under raking light. We set that direction at design stage, because two pieces rotated against each other read as two different materials.

materials
Stainless steel, Aluminium

maintenance
wipe along the grain, never across it

Ferro Patina

controlled corten patina

We start and stabilise the patina in the workshop rather than waiting for the weather to do it. The piece arrives with its colour already developed instead of silver — and it does not stain the façade in the first weeks the way raw corten does.

Corten steel

maintenance
none needed; the patina keeps maturing on its own

Ferro Coat

powder coating, RAL palette

A powder coat in any colour from the RAL palette, in matt, satin or textured finish. The most durable of the finishes and the only one that lets you hit an exact brand colour.

materials
Mild steel, Stainless steel, Aluminium
use

maintenance
water with a mild detergent; avoid solvents

Ferro Noir

blackened to a deep matt black

A black created by a chemical reaction in the metal itself, not laid on top of it. The surface stays matt and keeps the texture of the material — unlike a black powder coat, which covers it.

materials
Mild steel, Stainless steel

maintenance
wipe with a dry cloth; refresh with wax on pieces that get touched

Ferro Brass

polished or satin brass

Two versions of the same surface: polished gives full lustre and darkens faster, satin is calmer and forgives fingerprints. A clear lacquer stops the colour at whatever stage you like it.

maintenance
unlacquered it keeps patinating; lacquered, just wipe it

Lakier bezbarwny

protective clear coat

A transparent layer applied over any of the finishes above. It keeps the colour and texture while stopping the surface from ageing further. The default on mild steel and brass.
